Overview

The Beam Quality Enhancement (BQE) System is designed to clean up and shape the laser beam before it reaches the workpiece. By removing high-angle scatter and minimizing hot spots, the BQE helps improve processing consistency and reduce defects in cutting, welding, and drilling applications. Its compact housing integrates seamlessly into any Haas LTI beam delivery system and requires no active cooling or external power.

Applications

Beam Quality Enhancement Systems—also referred to as spatial filters or beam cleaning optics—are commonly used in laser processing environments where high beam uniformity and minimal divergence are required. These include precision cutting, welding, micromachining, and additive manufacturing applications where consistent power density and beam shape are critical to performance and repeatability.

BQE units are often found in laboratory systems, OEM laser platforms, and R&D setups where the optical path includes fiber delivery or unstable beam profiles. They're especially useful when dealing with multimode lasers or systems with poor beam shaping upstream. Whether mounted inline before a processing head or used during beam conditioning stages, BQE systems help stabilize and clean up the beam for more predictable results at the workpiece.

Selecting a Part Number

Haas BQE systems are defined by three key parameters:

  1. Aperture Size
     Select the aperture size based on your system requirements.

  2. Wavelength
     Each model is available in multiple wavelengths. Select the one that matches your systems wave length.

  3. Input Flange Compatibility
     The BQE can be ordered with multiple different input flanges to directly mount to popular CO₂ laser sources.
