Overview

Telescopic Spring Bellows Beam Tubes (BTS) provide a sealed and adjustable enclosure for free-space laser beams. Built with a spring-loaded telescopic design, these tubes expand and contract to accommodate varying distances between optical components while keeping the beam path fully enclosed.

The bellows material protects sensitive optics from dust, debris, and process contamination, while the internal stainless steel support spring allows the assembly to be mounted either vertically or horizontally without sagging. Unlike rigid tubes, the bellows design is well suited for continuous, low-speed motion such as Z-axis adjustments or steady travel of a process head. This makes them a reliable choice for both static installations and dynamic setups where cleanliness and controlled flexibility are required.

Selecting a Part Number

Selecting the right telescopic spring bellows beam tube involves four main considerations:

Step 1: Aperture Size
Choose the clear aperture that matches the beam size in your system. We recommend 1.5x your beam diameter.

Step 2: Mounting Style
Determine the connection type for each end of the tube. Mounting styles include threaded male, threaded female, and bolt circle configurations, allowing integration with a wide range of couplers, adaptors, and mounts.

Step 3: Length Range
Select the appropriate extension length based on the distance between optical components. Standard ranges cover both compact and extended setups, with custom lengths available if your system requires a unique span.

Step 4: Orientation
Specify whether the tube will be mounted in a vertical or horizontal orientation. This ensures the bellows operate smoothly and maintain proper alignment within your beam delivery system.
