Haas Laser Technologies offers a range of crash protection solutions to safeguard laser process heads from unexpected collisions. These components help prevent costly damage by stopping motion or mechanically disconnecting the head when a crash occurs. Options include self-resetting mechanical units with built-in switches, compact magnetic breakaways for quick realignment, and high-speed pneumatic sensors with up to ±13° angular compliance and auto-resetting precision.

This product adds crash detection to our process heads. Hardened steel balls and pads self-locate after a crash. A quick disconnect Lemo® electrical connector provides easy integration. Crash reporting is accomplished via three (3) series wired internal switches. The sealed design and anodized aluminum construction are perfect for industrial applications.

G4 Crash Detection
Overview & Specifications
2-Stage X-Y-Z Crash Detection/Protection Unit (Compact Design). Stage 1 permits Up to +/- 10 deg. of deflection. Three Internal, Series Wired Switches Detect and Report the Crash Condition. Stage 2 incorporates a Magnetic Break-away of the Entire Laser Head to Protect the Unit from Damage.
Internal Hardened Steel Locating Pads allow the unit to be Precisely relocated back into place. A protective Bellows seals the unit while acting as a tether to support the unit from falling upon a crash break-away condition.

G5 Crash Detection
Overview & Specifications
Haas Part #G5-38-XYZ-S: Compact 2-stage X-Y-Z crash protection unit. Stage 1 allows up to +/- 10° deflection with three series-wired switches to detect and report crashes. Stage 2 includes a magnetic break-away to protect the laser head, with hardened steel locating pads for precise realignment. A protective bellows seals and tethers the unit during a break-away.
Haas Part #G5-38-XYZ-BA: Disposable break-away crash protection unit designed to safely detach the laser process head during a crash, preventing damage.

This magnetic breakaway unit provides mechanical crash protection for our process heads. During accidental collisions, the assembly safely disconnects to prevent damage to optical components and motion hardware. A strong magnetic interface provides consistent realignment after separation, minimizing downtime and preserving beam path accuracy. Ideal for use in environments where tool crashes pose a risk to both equipment and process integrity.

Pneumatic High-Angle Collision Sensor Features
- The Pneumatic High-Angle Collision Sensor is a patented mechanical collision sensor that Stops the motion system within 2 to 10ms of a collision to minimize costly damage.
- Offers a full 13º of angular compliance.
- Absorbs the crash energy without releasing the air pressure in the unit thus preventing tooling 'sag' and eliminating the effects of compressed air being released into the environment.
- Automatically resets to within ±0.0005" (0.013mm) in x, y, and z dimensions and to within ±0.17º rotationally to maximize uptime and eliminate the need for human intervention.
- Has a compliance adjustment feature that lets the user determine
the amount of deflection allowed before a signal is sent to your robot's E-stop or controller. Pneumatic High-Angle Features PRCS-4619 shown.
