Overview
The Reflective Beam Expander/Collimator (RBEC) is designed specifically for handling broadband CO₂ laser systems, where traditional lens-based expanders suffer from chromatic dispersion. Utilizing a Z-fold optical path with gimbal-mounted reflective optics, the RBEC provides consistent expansion or reduction across all wavelengths. Available in the 38 mm and 50 mm series, it features modular housing, easy access for alignment, and direct-cooled reflective optics. With water-cooled options capable of handling up to 15 kW, this unit is built for integration into demanding industrial systems that require high power handling and precise optical control.

Reflective beam expanders (also known as reflective beam collimators or mirror expanders) are essential for applications where laser wavelength flexibility and thermal stability matter most. In CO₂ laser cutting and welding systems, the RBEC enables precise beam control without chromatic aberration. Follow the steps below to choose the correct RBEC part number for your application:

Choose the Aperture Size
Select based on your system’s beam diameter and mechanical interface:-
38mm Series – compact and lightweight for smaller beam paths or tight setups

50mm Series – larger clear aperture for high-power or large-mode applications

Select the Expansion Ratio
Available expansion ratios:-
1x – no expansion; acts as a collimator

1.4x, 1.85x, 2x, 3x, 4x – expands the beam for improved focusability or reduced divergence

Determine Cooling Requirements (50mm Series only)
For high-power applications or continuous operation:-
W = Water-cooled
